Lighten up. Not you. Your Car! Empty your trunk and save gas and save money! Still carrying the summer camping gear in the trunk? What do you need barbells back there for? Do you really golf every day? If you are not using it everyday, you probably don’t need it in your trunk! (Or back seat, either!) Clean out your gear and see how many pounds you lose from your car. Once you get rid of all that extra baggage and remove the bike rack you no longer use, you might save as much as 5 cents per gallon just by lightening the load in your car. Now THERE is a good reason to clean that trunk! Even the Department of Energy thinks it is a good idea! Another tip for you from the DOE is to look further ahead and avoid some of the traffic stops and starts, try to maintain a more steady speed.
